Titles like this were office of the reason I scooped up these Mill Creek 50-film collection initially. I had hoped it would turn out to be some kind of crazed scientist jam. Just alas. It'south a propaganda flick that attempts to show the positives of bogus insemination. This 1 was bad. Really bad. Test Tube Babies tells the story of George and Cathy Bennett, a couple who simply excel in their boiler, inexplicably drawn together in mail-WWII America but who somewhen run into a problem of multiplication. I am not sure I would have enjoyed the extra 20 minutes but this question needs to be asked. Also for a 1948 PSA almost artificial insemination, I am not sure why there was a topless woman wrestling in a living room with some other woman. In that location were also some risque cleavage shots throughout the moving-picture show. Obviously, sex activity is a matter that is talked well-nigh to lead to the test tube baby conversation. Shitty no-budget exploitation picture on such a shocking subject field as Test Tube Babies (1948) using by and large non-actors. This was more sterile than the man in the film. This was a wild ride. Unfortunately, the horrible cuts and editing leaves us with many questions and a lack of narrative connexion. The title cards tell us that there'southward a thing out there called bogus insemination that can aid save fruitless marriages (was that even a thing in the 40s??). Soon enough we meet our young couple who feel incomplete after a year of wedded bliss. And the only way to make them complete is past making babies (y'all know, in the duty sexual activity wearisome fashion).

Tedious and directionless, with the bodily "examination tube babies" plot appearing not until the terminal 20 or so minutes. Fairly alee of its time with its positive attitude toward alternative birth methods, although its other conclusion less then-children equally the answer to saving a broken marriage. If anything, worth watching for the scandalous political party scene that appears halfway through, that features lovely lines of dialogue similar "I can compete with any stripper, amateur or otherwise" and "pitiful, I didn't recognize you with your clothes on!"

Examination Tube Babies is a train wreck of two very different films. One is a woodenly acted informational movie about artificial insemination and the other is a woodenly acted drama about a less-than-perfectly-happy immature married couple whose friends are all drunks and swingers.

That immature couple are George and Cathy Bennett (William Thomason and Dorothy Knuckles), and the lack of children in their union after the eternity of 12 months is causing them great unhappiness. George isn't happy that Cathy spends time with the sleazy gigolo Frank Grover (John Michael), and she isn't happy with all of the wild parties they keep having. But without children, what's at that place to exercise but host swinging brand-out parties?

Ostensibly, this is an educational pic about bogus insemination. Even so, the filmmakers manage to sneak in some female nudity, a caricatural routine, and an extended catfight before getting down to brainwash the audience.

I find these "roadshow" exploitation flicks to exist charming with the affectless line readings weird costuming. (The sterile husband has a glaze that looks similar a trench coat and a bathrobe had a coat-child.)

Having to disguise trashy boobie movies in educational films is probably one of my favorite things about this era.

Their marital bliss gradually eroded by their inability to excogitate a child, ii newlyweds begin attending wild swinger parties earlier eventually deciding to run into a doctor in this odd little movie. The operative word in that sentence is "eventually" considering it is only in the final third of the picture that the couple seek medical advice and what exactly the filmmakers were going for during the first two thirds is difficult to nut out. There is a lot of risqué fractional nudity (about see-through outfits; bare backs) and some elongated catfights, all of which seems to go confronting the motion picture's eventual opinion equally a pro-artificial insemination educational movie. The acting is besides decidedly second-charge per unit with monotone and obliviously apposite line delivery throughout that strips all possible emotion abroad. The movie is neatly edited on occasion with cool clock wipe transitions here and there, but the vast majority of the motion-picture show varies between tedious and didactic.
